Father Georges Lemaître

The priest was a great Belgian theologian, theoretical physicist, and mathematician who made major contributions to cosmology and astrophysics! He was asked about his theories and space time.

Question Father Lemaître: “Your theory suggests that in the universe there was a day that did not have a yesterday.”

Father Lemaître: “There are two roads to the truth. I choose to take them both.”

His response was a combination of faith, the moments of singularity with the vastness of space/time, and the pursuit of intellectual discover. This is a helpful reminder that my own search is far greater than i can fathom. It is perhaps analogous to: An open hand has infinite possibilities! The closed hand can gain nothing extra, but it has also become a fist that can fight for the possible.

Two roads with an ever expanding number of what is possible.
